The NHS now offers high quality digital hearing aids and at HearingDirect.com we have no problem with recommending this free service. The limitation is that there is often a considerable delay in being able to get an NHS hearing aid – waiting times vary however, all audiology departments are now meeting the 18 week Government target for issuing new hearing aids. Most people find it inconvenient to have to visit a hospital; HearingDirect.com offers a more convenient, good value alternative to the NHS

Will a HearingDirect.com hearing aid be right for my hearing loss?
All of the HearingDirect hearing aids are sent from our manufacturers with pre-programmed amplification geared at aiding mild to moderate hearing loss; particularly that which is attributable to the natural aging process, where people experience more problems hearing higher frequencies than the lower frequencies.
The software programme in HearingDirect products is therefore designed to offer less amplification for low frequency sounds and more amplification for high frequency sounds.
Pre-programmed hearing aids such as the ones featured on HearingDirect.com are becoming more and more popular. They offer the opportunity to many more people with mild to moderate hearing loss to see if amplification will bring an improved quality of life, at a much more affordable price.
In addition, many of our models can be programmed to a specific hearing loss with a supplied audiogram, please call our FREEPHONE number at the top of this page for more details.
Our 30 day money back guarantee also provides peace of mind that if you do not experience any improvement in hearing after trying a HearingDirect hearing aid; it can be sent back to us freepost within 30 days of receipt for a full product refund.
How will I know if a particular hearing aid is right for me?
All the HearingDirect.com hearing aids are preprogrammed with amplification geared at aiding mild to moderate hearing loss; particularly that which is attributable to the natural aging process, where people experience more problems hearing higher frequencies than the lower frequencies.
Because the level of amplification level is similar, your choice can be driven by personal preference for style/design/colour, whether you want user controls such as volume controls or programme buttons or even what kind of battery life you would prefer. If you require further product information please do contact us.
Do I need one or two hearing aids?
If there is hearing loss on both ears, from an audiological point of view aiding both ears is usually recommended.
There are a number of advantages of ‘binaural’ hearing – e.g. localisation ability can be better preserved.
If you do not want to purchase two at once, but are still unsure as to which ear to wear something on, some of the HearingDirect products can be used interchangeably on either the left or right ears. Please call our FREEPHONE number at the top of this page for more details.
What about old expired batteries and other electrical items, do you offer recycling facilities?
Under the Waste Battery Regulations, we are now offering a take back scheme for all portable waste batteries at our office (you can find the address at the bottom of the contact us page - click here) . You can return your waste batteries to our business premises in person (please do not post), or alternatively you can find your nearest local waste portable battery recycling facility at www.recyclenow.co.uk
Most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries, and some town halls, libraries or schools may also set up collection points.
What about unwanted electrical equipment, do you offer recycling facilities?
Please do not throw electrical equipment in your bin. The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items. Your cooperation is requested by choosing one of the following two alternatives to dispose of your old electrical equipment:
1. Recycle locally. You can find your nearest electrical equipment recycling centre by going to: www.recycle-more.co.uk/banklocator/banklocator.aspx and entering your postcode. Uncheck all the boxes by clicking on “All” and then check the box for “General WEEE” and press “Enter” on your keyboard. You will then get both a map and address for your nearest WEEE recycling centre.
2. In the UK distributors including retailers must provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge.
As a responsible retailer, we have met the requirements placed on us by offering all customers buying new electrical equipment free take-back of their old electrical equipment on a like-for-like basis at our premises. Simply hand unwanted items to a member of staff.
